Alan Parsons – Return To Tunguska

Mooie track. Mooie opbouw. Lots of synths en andere trucendozen. Enjoy!

Ahnold – Getting Jiggy With It

Check out de koortjes!

Elbow – Lippy Kids

Freddie Mercury – In My Defence

Ah Freddy Mercury. Love him or hate him. This song is often overlooked as one of his excellent vocal performances. Maybe not the strongest of his songs but his voice soars and it’s a nice step away from the often overly pompous sound of Queen.

Queen – Don’t Stop Me Now (Door Sandra Bae)

Holy Crap. Impressive

Brad Gillis and Joel Hoekstra van Night Ranger – LA No Name (live)

Ted Neeley – Gethsemane (I Only Want To Say)

It’s really blasphemy to single out one single song from the musical / rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar but this song definitely takes the prize. Many others have performed the part of Christ in this musical but to me, there’s only one and that’s Neeley. Together with Carl Anderson (RIP) who played Judas, the film cast had two truly mighty singers on board but of these two it’s again Neeley who fills me with awe. The dynamics and stellar range of his singing is simply and literally awesome.

So. Rocknet regulars may find this an unlikely post on this website, especially coming from me (maybe) but I have listened to this since I was about 12 years old and its still a magical performance.

Nine Inch Nails – Me I’m Not / Meet Your Master (remix)

Trent Reznor is a genius. Simple as that. His versatility and ability to move from Rock to Industrial to very VERY clever pop-writing has made Nine Inch Nails, or NIN, a force to be reckoned with for over 2 decades now. Admittedly there’s some lesser material released (I’m not particularly fond of the albums “With Teeth” or “The Slip” but a few years back the release of “Year Zero” (and the subsequent remix album “Y34RZ3R0R3M1X” (trust me: the remix album is a more than worty addition to the original album) totally reinstated my belief in this man, his music *and* his vision on releasing, creating and managing music. I give you “Me I’m Not” off Year Zero and the remix version of “Meet Your Master” off “Y34RZ3R0R3M1X”. The latter is a remix by The Faint.

Play it loud though. This stuff deserves to blast out of your speakers.

The Riverdogs – Shadow Of You

The Riverdogs released their first eponymous album in 1990. The album featured excellent songs but it wasn’t until I saw them live a couple of times and got me a copy of their stellar “Absolutely Live” album that I really started to dig this band. Especially the excellent songwriting and amazing voice of Singer / guitarist Rob Lamothe drew my attention. The song posted here is from their 1993 album “Bone’. By then, Vivian Campbell had left to join Def Leppard and the band consisted of Rob Lamothe, Nick Brophy (Guitar), Cary Beare (Bass) and drummer Ronnie Ciago. Unfortunately there have been no Riverdogs releases since though when I talked to Rob in 2009 they were actually working together again whenever they found the time to hook up. Fingers crossed!

Mumford & Sons – I Gave You All / After The Storm

Echt.
