Great cover by Michael Winslow (a.k.a the sound effects guy from Police Academy)

And he does an amazing Jimi Hendrix as well!

Harp Twins - Stairway to Heaven

JannemanDoor: Janneman | 74 Posts

General music junkie. Started playing the guitar when I was 13. Tried a little bass and keyboard in between, but nowadays I spend most of my time behind the drums. I love everything between classical and heavy metal, as long as it surprises me.

Kaki King - Bone Chaos In The Castle (Live)

Frequent visitors of Rocknet.nl know I’m an absolute tapping-addict. I love everything (so far) that comes out of the CandyRat Studios.

Tonight I typed in ‘rehearsal’ on YouTube and, besides some crappy misfits, several great rehearsals came up. One of them was Kaki King (1979). While going through the related videos, I came up with a great vid of her. King scored music for television and film, but isn’t ‘that known’ as a solo artist. Dispite that, she worked alongside Eddie Vedder and Michael Brook, contributing music for the soundtrack to Sean Penn’s Into the Wild (a must see!), for which King, Vedder and Brook were nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score.

Enough said. This chick should hook up with Andy McKee and have freakin’ babies! :)

Jessie J - Price Tag (Live Acoustic Music Video)

Instead of messing the house up completely after inviting the whole family for Father’s Day, like we did for several years, in 2010 we’ve decided to keep it simple and start a new tradition.

My dad has a huge backyard and I came up with the idea to set up some tents in a circle. In the middle: a kick ass campfire. Around it: seats and guitar stands. Who were invited? Mom, dad, me, my kids, my sister with her husband and their 13-year old triplets (three girls!).

Unfortunately I was the only one playing the guitar and singing that night. (I have a 60′s ~ late 90′s reportoire, so it was obvious my nieces looked pretty bored for the first 2 hours and my sister, her husband and my parents (embarrassingly to my nieces) were singing along quite well.

I managed to figure out a few Adele songs on the spot, which made up a lot lol, but I knew, if we’d continue this tradition, I had to come up with a reportoire my nieces would like as well. Therefore, for the past few months, I’m creating a playlist just for the girls.

Today I’ve added the accoustic version of Price Tag by Jessie J, which I *know* they love (I have my sources lol). Maybe my nieces will like it as well! :D

Jonny Lang - Long Time Coming (AOL Sessions)

Jonny Lang (1981) started playing blues/gospel on the guitar at age 12. Three years later he signed a contract at A&M Records. “Wander This World”, to the eponymous album (1998), is my absolute favourite:

For this album he received a Grammy Award. Tonight, while rummaging Youtube, I discovered “Long Time Coming, also from the AOL Sessions. His voice is simply… wow!

By the way… Jonny Lang toured with The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, B.B. King, Blues Traveler, Jeff Beck and Sting. So you know ;)

“L”Debois does a marvelous cover of Marvin Gayes “What’s Going On”.
