Frequent visitors of Rocknet.nl know I’m an absolute tapping-addict. I love everything (so far) that comes out of the CandyRat Studios.

Tonight I typed in ‘rehearsal’ on YouTube and, besides some crappy misfits, several great rehearsals came up. One of them was Kaki King (1979). While going through the related videos, I came up with a great vid of her. King scored music for television and film, but isn’t ‘that known’ as a solo artist. Dispite that, she worked alongside Eddie Vedder and Michael Brook, contributing music for the soundtrack to Sean Penn’s Into the Wild (a must see!), for which King, Vedder and Brook were nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score.

Enough said. This chick should hook up with Andy McKee and have freakin’ babies!

To contribute to the “Let’s get nostalgic” part, here is mine and let’s find out whatever happended to our childhood ‘heroes’!

Grant Lee Buffalo was a rock band based in Los Angeles, California, consisting of Grant-Lee Phillips (vocals and guitar), Paul Kimble (bass) and Joey Peters (drums) best known for the mesmerizing song:

As you can see in the above youtube clip Grant Lee Philips, former lead singer of the band, has been in Amsterdam last year and I missed it!! Damn me!! He still has a great voice in my opinion.

Right Here & Right Now, Rocknet is going English!

My thoughts were going to the the above mentioned song from Van Halen.
I have never been that lucky to see them live, but hopefully it will happen one day in the future when they will be reunited!?

According to a previous press release from Warner/Chappell Music from August 2010 a new album will come out this year. On January 17, 2011, producer John Shanks posted a tweet on his twitteracount stating that he was in the studio with the band.
Fingers crossed!

Ik had nog nooit van de band James gehoord tot afgelopen zaterdag.
Deze is blijkbaar alweer van een aantal jaartjes geleden, welke ik toch pas afgelopen weekend te horen heb gekregen, niet meer wetende waar…..ik dacht bij de aftiteling in een film, maar goed. Hij blijft hangen…

Ik heb 0,0 met Di-rect (ik doel op voormalige zanger Tim), Giel Beelen en Graffiti 6. Maar als je deze drie componenten samenvoegt, met de nieuwe Di-rect frontman Marcel, dan ontstaat er iets moois: de gecoverde versie van “Stare Into The Sun”.

Geen nieuwe naam hier op RN, maar af en toe moeten we toch even de rock terugbrengen in rocknet.

Ik heb er eigenlijk niet zoveel aan toe te voegen. Zet je speakers (of koptelefoon) zo ver mogelijk open en luister naar de tekst. Thé Lau, de enige God van Nederland.

Ik luister en bekijk regelmatig opnames van Jools Holland, te weten dat hij vaak een veelvoud aan grote artiesten in zijn show verwelkomt. Niet dat ze allemaal goed zijn, maar er zitten vaak wel hele goeie tussen! Zo ook het optreden van “The Verve” met hun “The Drugs Don’t Work”… Het nummer raakt wel een gevoelige snaar!

Trouwens is de onderstaande cover van Angelo Kelly (yep! Kelly Familly) naar mijn menig ook zeer noemenswaardig! (720p!)
